Old Pipes? When Repiping Actually Saves You Money

Many KL & Selangor terrace houses from the 80s and 90s still carry their original galvanised iron piping. Those pipes rust from the inside out — which is why the problems show up in your water before they show up on your walls.

Signs your piping is at end-of-life

  • Brownish or metallic-tasting water first thing in the morning
  • Leaks that keep appearing at different spots — you fix one joint, another goes
  • Noticeably weaker flow over the years as rust narrows the pipe bore
  • Neighbours with same-age houses already repiping

Why patching becomes a money trap

Each exposed-pipe repair costs RM100–380. That is sensible once or twice. But when a 30-year-old line starts failing, every repair is just moving the pressure to the next weakest joint. Three or four emergency calls a year quickly costs more than a planned repipe — without counting the ceiling stains and ruined cabinets.

What repiping involves

A single-storey terrace typically takes 1–2 days at RM1,500–3,000 using PPR or PVC piping. We run new lines, cut walls only where unavoidable, patch them back, and you get decades of trouble-free water. Condo units are usually simpler (RM1,000–2,500).

Get an honest assessment

Not every old house needs full repiping — sometimes only the hot-water line or the outdoor run is failing. Send us your house age and problem history on WhatsApp and we will tell you straight which it is.
