Can you lay new tiles over my old tiles?

Often yes — if the existing tiles are solid and level, tile-over-tile saves hacking cost, dust and a full day of work. Note your floor level rises about 10–12mm; doors may need trimming.

Why do tiles suddenly pop up or bulge?

Heat expansion plus insufficient adhesive coverage underneath — very common in Malaysian homes over 15 years old. It is repairable area by area; the rest of the floor usually does not need replacing.
